Weird 60-Day Lock for my .CO Domains

Can you believe it? It's been a year since .CO launched to the public. It was Jul 19 2010 when anybody could register a .CO domain and that's also the time when most pre-registrations were regged by their respective chosen registrars.

Anyway, I have my better .CO domains from Domain Monster. Having the expiration come near, I was attracted to GoDaddy's renewal rates at 30%. I then opted to order and initiate a transfer from DM to GD.

Domains are unlocked, authorized the transfer, and supplied the proper AUTH Codes.

Transfer Failed. This happened to all the domains I initiated transfer with.

I sent an e-mail to Domain Monster support asking what's the deal and they said it's a matter dealing with Neustar (.CO registry) that's causing problems releasing the domain. They advised me to have the new registrar (GD) contact Neustar directly, provide the domains to be transferred with respective auth codes. From there, Neustar would ideally override their system's lock to have the domains properly moved.

A couple of e-mails back and forth between DM and GD, I realized I won't be able to transfer domains.

GoDaddy's conclusive reply said that the domains were still under a 60-day ICAN lock which is non-negotiable. Meh...

Kinda weird. I don't get how it's under a lock considering it's been a year since I had it and not once did I change any registry information to even have that lock reoccur.

Anyway, Domain Monster was kind enough to offer me a $20 renewal fee, $0.99 cheaper than GoDaddy's 30% off the $29.99 price tag.
