Group Buying Deals for Manila
If you’ve been around the net, you should be familiar with Groupon. Basically, what Groupon gives its subscribers is the chance to avail of discounts and deals as big as 50% or more given the condition that there should be at least x amount of buyers in a given time, hence the term group buy. This proved to be one of the Top 10 Business Models for 2010.
Now unfortunately, Groupon only serves the US and Canada. But of course, a lot of business minds are trying to implement such a concept here in the Philippines to serve main areas like Manila, Cebu, and Davao. There are (3) group buying services available for us – Pakyaw, Ensogo, and DealGrocer.
Deals are either limited by number of purchases or available for x time. The portals serve you with the chance to snag deals like 50%. Offers varry from resort or hotel accommodations and buffets, dermatological services, cheap flights, restaurant discounts, memberships, cruises, and even a helicopter ride.

UPDATE: Groupon actually serves Manila, Cebu, Davao, and other Philippine cities via a Beeconomic.Com.PH . I just checked and Groupon.PH and Groupon.Com.PH are under a Makati-based company named Global One Solutions while the .net.ph and .org.ph domains are now owned by Groupon, Inc. (last time I checked, they were free to register). I don’t know but GOS might have received a hefty offer for Groupon.PH, considering how Groupon bought other Groupon.cctld domains instead of filing trademark cases which might cause them more money and time. No, Groupon now serves customers in Manila. I just had a fine dinner last night at la tienda thanks to groupon (beeconomic.com.ph – that’s their local website)
