Google recently tweaked its algorithm in bringing in results to our faces. It claims to reduce rankings for low-quality sites - sites that are of low value add for users, copy content from other websites, or sites that are just not very useful.
This simply means that it will bring more rep for sites that bring in actual original content and not just some copy-posted-link that many sites do. If you develop quality sites that you actually put focus and some time on, chances are, Google will favor it and have your rankings boosted. I think it's great that Google is rewarding developers who actually think and write of their content.
A couple of big sites seem to have lost their traffic - eZineArticles.com Hubpages.com Buzzle.com to name a few. All of which are kind of like considered as content farms or article sites.
On another note, I did note a boost in NotOffline's traffic. Maybe I'm being rewarded as well.
As for my parked domains, one adult-related domain of mine somewhat lowered on traffic. AFAIK, its source comes from Google so yeah, it might be a result of the algorithm.
This gives a good opportunity and window for domainers to actually have their domains developed given that they put original and quality content in them. The potential of ranking well is very good. Even building mini-sites, as long as you equip it well with proper SEO should rank fine in this.
So... It's a good day for development, yeah?
