I was surprised to know that Elliot Silver owns BoracayHotels.com. If you just heard the name, Elliot runs a domaining blog and is considered as one of the few authorities who actually knows what he's doing. He's one of the few guys who can pull of 5-6 figure domain sales easily and most of which aren't being disclosed.
Anyway, some time ago, TripAdvisor declared our very own Boracay to be the one of the top beaches of the year - Number 2 to be exact! With that said, people of the web are more likely to stumble over this recommendation and look up a place to stay in the island.
With an EXACT GLOBAL MONTHLY search of 12,000 a month in Google alone, BoracayHotels.com definitely owns up big time in terms of being the top domain that can be utilized in this scenario. Individuals or organizations who can make great use of this are those who are involved in travel and tourism pointing towards Boracay.
At the moment, Elliot is marketing the availability of the domain for USD16,500.00. Converting to a flat rate of the current FOREX, that's PHP709,500.00. And don't be surprised but he's already getting people interested in buying the domain from him! Would you consider this expensive?
Personally, I doubt that a local entity of the Philippines would be able to build any kind of interest to buy the domain with this kind of price tag. I might be wrong though. But knowing how people here treat domain names, there's always an option to go over the price and get something almost the same by adding a hyphen, PH, Philippines, or any other word they could think of in the name. What organizations don't understand just yet is how exact terms are, and how enormous of a difference one character could make.
Then again, should a local entity find the means to acquire the domain then great, s/he as an advantage mainly because of being here. Given that the individual knows how to do proper SEO, IM, and full on development, the domain and its corresponding website should be a great asset which can cover the initial investment in no time if utilized to its maximum potential.
Man, in time I aim to be doing the same kind of sales by owning these types of high quality domains!
Are you in the domaining game?

Boracay is a very competitive space thats for sure. Wouldnt it be better to have a domain with just boracay or at least buy a site that is ranking on google? Who is going to spend years trying to get elliots site even ranked. there are other sites like,
www. boracay. tel is for sale and it is developed already.
I believe the overall leverage of Elliot’s domain is that it has narrowed down service relating to Boracay – its hotels. Considering the amount of exact global monthly search it gets, it’s bound to gain a good amount of type in traffic as well given that it is a .COM and the general public is more likely to go for a .com. There’s also a factor of being the exact keyword term.
From here, people are more likely to type in other known gTLDs like .net and .org then maybe the respective ccTLD (.PH/.COM.PH) before even arriving to the .tel if that would ever cross their mind.
When you get a commanding .com domain like this, you have an advantage and applying better SEO is bound to win over other websites in the SERPs. It won’t be instant but it definitely has better potential in the long run
