Auto Renewal Refund from GoDaddy

All of a sudden, an e-mail appears. I seem to have just paid more than a hundred dollars for a couple of domains I didn't even want to be renewed! FML.

Anyway, this is kind of a good thing on my part. See, my main registrar was GoDaddy and I've been lucky enough to always meet the right customer service representatives to assist me with whatever my issue is - in this case, an unwanted renewal.

I was then informed that an individual has the opportunity to get a refund for a domain within 5 days of its registration or renewal. 5th day came and I went on to report that I have indeed cancelled the domains in my domain manager - a prerequisite for the refund. A few minutes later, a refund was done.

A tip? Set your domains' auto renewal off. It can save you a sudden burst of money out of your wallet. Not to mention that if you have it off, you are privileged to have a grace period to keep it wherein you can still market your domain names to a couple of catchers willing to keep the domain for you. Also, keep track of your mails. It's good that I learned about the renewals just in time for me to call a refund and have my request granted.
