I had this product-related .co about to expire in less than 2 weeks and I realized I've never actually managed to touch or market it. I hauled my fat hands to type and click and do a quick search for potential end-users. Ended up with just less than 20 emails.
A couple of hours later, 2 replies. Both asked, one never replied again. The other came and countered with 66% off and said it's that or no.
Oh noes.
Now I was thinking if I'd be willing to look desperate just to get things over with and still earn a profit, or counter and give 20% less of my original price instead.
From here I justified and explained a couple of points:
- Ranking .co is the same as .com, really depends on effort.
- .co is considered a gTLD, in fact...
- Google bought G.co to carry products for the general public.
- Generic keyword feature alongside search stats
- Authoritative appeal as a category killer
End user gladly accepted and asked for the transfer and I covered more than 5x the initial investment
Now, carry every fat finger you have and get yourself working to pitch in to end users. It's always better to give it a try and sell em than to not ever touch them (hoping to get an offer as an unmotivated seller), and then drop them in the end with no profit at hand. Not even a breakeven standpoint. Agreed?
