How to Auto Tweet Your Blog Posts with Twitterfeed |
So you want to promote your posts via online social networking sites? Then follow up the steps below. If you want to give your website some publicity via Twitter, it's a good thing to do a couple little registrations to do the work. It'll take a short time to save you a lot of hassle manually posting your every entry. This is a good method of automating a tweet that will post your Blog Entry Titles for you accompanied by an autolink to the post. Let me guide you through: 1) Sign up for BIT.LY BIT.LY is a Free URL Shortening online service. So instead of wasting your tweet characters by posting there something like "http://www.notoffline.com/how-to-auto-tweet-your-blog-posts," which leaves you with (140-59... ughhh...) 81 characters left, your links will appear like "http://bit.ly/n0f21" instead. Saves a lot of room for your possible long titles.
2) Sign up at TwitterFeed.com Very purpose of TwitterFeed is to get feeds from your Blog RSS, automate a link in BIT.LY and post it in your Twitter Account.
3) Once you've signed up with TwitterFeed, go to your DashBoard and click "Create New Feed" 4) You Need to Authenticate your Twitter Account. Supply your username and password and click "Continue to Step 2" 5) Get your RSS URL. It can either end with .XML or not like the one this site has - "http://www.notoffline.com/component/option,com_bca-rss-syndicator/feed_id,1/"
How do you know your RSS URL? Normally if you run a your blog with a Host like Blogspot, Wordpress, SquareSpace, or whatever, it has an RSS feed function marked by the RSS Icon. Just Right click and "Copy Link Location" or anything similar to get its URL. If you host your own blog, try finding an add-on or module to activate your RSS function. Try asking your host or admin if you're still having troubles. If they don't know, I bet you're kind of screwed at the moment. 6) Create a Feed Name and paste the RSS URL in its respective field. Test to make sure the URL is correct 7) Click "Advanced Settings." Update Frequency is a NoBrainer. Change it as you wish. 8) Toggle a Few Settings under "Post Content". Choose "Title Only" obviously to save on characters. Then Make sure "Post Link is Checked. Shorten Link through "BIT.LY" and click "bit.ly settings".
Log into your Bit.LY and click "Account" on the upper right side of the screen. Check on the left part of the page for your API Login and API Key. Just Copy and paste on their respective twitterfeed fields. 9) Fill in Post Prefix/Suffix if you like. It'll add your chosen prefix/suffix to every tweet you automatically make.
10) Leave everything else and click Create Feed Congratulations! Your blog entry titles will now be linked automatically accompanied by a bit.ly link in 10 easy steps! Oh, and have you noticed? You can authenticate your Facebook Account too so that means you can automate posting there too! Hope that helps :) Tags: |
