I Hate Noynoy's God Sent Propaganda to Candidacy

I don't know much about politics and I don't really care about it considering how unruly that other side of the world is. But it's inevitable to notice figures out there when they are just catching so much attention from the media.

So yes it's Election time for the Philippines by the time 2010 hits, which is only a couple of months away from now, and so many wannabes have filed their candidacy and started to move about on their propaganda. What I want to talk about here is the way Noynoy Aquino managed to proclaim his.

It was 1st of September when Mar Roxas 'sacrificed' his run for Noynoy Aquino during a Press Conference. From here on, you would think wth, right? Well, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if you think about it.

Due to Former Pres. Cory Aquino's death, the Aquino Family made such a great impression gaining so much sympathy from the world. Due to this, people were simply hyped up about the fact that the great Cory Aquino left us an only son - a Noynoy Aquino that could follow the footsteps of his mom. Well, I'd say people are just too carried over by the waves of the sea, you get what I mean? People tend to over-react on things that from the death of Cory, they wanted her to be a national hero, a saint, her image on the money, and her son to become President. Get it now? I think that the people who say these are the ones who are merely riding the trend. They have not much insight on things and when they see a famous matter, they hype it up and get carried away.

Now Mar Roxas has been campaigning ever since time ever knew it when 2009 hit - producing all the media material to promote a good image, which is obviously inclined to his political career. He even managed to do mushy and stupid things on local tv shows to show his love for his girlfriend, and announced his marriage to the public. Right... What I'm saying is, after all that this candidate has spent, all effort and money, he backs down for Noynoy Aquino - the more favored figure to run for Presidency within his party. He backs down for the senator who then claims to be undecided. Really now, Mar would simply back it all down for your undecided thoughts.

There was once an interview made by GMA7 back after Mar's backing out. Mar stated that he backed out because Noynoy is strongly decided to run for the position. Then again, as I've said, Noynoy claims right after this that he is still undecided. Hhhhmmmm... I smell a show going on. Kris, are you the director?

Moving on, as media would continually chase Noynoy for a decision, the senator moves to another step the day after and says "This weekend, starting tomorrow actually. I will be going on a spiritual retreat as I pray for divine guidance". Now to me, this is BS. Why? I simply see it as a way to mimic his great mom. We all know how religious an image Cory was and what he said is a simple way to reminisce on about our late President and he probably hopes we see that image in him. Well, I definitely don't. He looks pretty annoying to me in the first place. LOL. What I hate about this is the fact that he proclaims to use prayer and whatever the outcome may be, he will make it seem that his decision is a product of spiritual guidance, which is just lame... using this method. Pft. So ok you belong to a family known to be religious. Buy why not just go through your prayers silently, like you should, and not proclaim it?

He wanders off to retreat. And to think that Mar already claimed he was already decided. What does that mean? He decided first then went on to a retreat? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

So yes, expectedly and it wasn't an OMG moment, he announces his motion to run for Presidency last September 9, 2009. Not surprised at all. He makes a speech and reads it without fluency before the media in a presscon. Not that I'm so much of an anti-Noynoy or anything, I do recognize his effort to try and be a better public speaker - and yes he needs a lot more training. A thing about this moment is that in his statement, he says something like "Tinatanggap ko ang hiling ng sambayanan..." ("I am accepting the will/call of the people..."). *sigh* It's like he's creating that Messiah Complex type of proclamation that he was sent by divine guidance and he will answer the call of the people. As it is known "Vox Populi Vox Dei," the voice of the people is the voice of God. Bah! Really hate when a politician uses religion as a strategic move. And yes this also goes out to all those religious and political figures in one. Damn don't you people know religion and politics don't mix well?

Now ok, too much negative ideas. As consolation, let me share the thought that should Noynoy become President of the Republic of the Philippines, I believe that he will pursue a good path to do a good job... or at least I hope so. After all, his mom and dad were great icons of the nation and no way should he disgrace that. Come to think of it, I never actually heard of any scams and bad publicity this senator ever went through. Does he have a clean record? As far as I know, he does (and correct me if I'm wrong) but on the other hand, I also don't see much records of great things he has done during his stay in the Senate and even before that.

What really pisses me about this candidacy is the fact that he tries to make use of his image of an Aquino too much but fails to do so. His use of religion and prayers just don't go quite well and I believe that it's not much of a way to go for him. It worked well for his mom and the Philippines back then because prayers and faith kept the Filipinos alive, together, and syncd through the hardships of time. But this time? Overkill. And it sucks. I don't know much about how others may think but I am not falling for any "God-sent" propaganda. Overall, should things go his way, it's pretty much the faith and hope that he will continue on a great legacy his mom and dad has set for him and the rest of the Filipino Nation.
