Would You Pay 200k for a Fish?

I was astounded at the price! PHP200,000 (around $4.3k) was tagged on an aquarium! And the price was referring to the value of each Koi in it o_o.

Really? I always heard about fish pets being expensive but I never actually knew that they'd reach that kind of price range.

I was in Paseo de Magallanes just a while ago and decided to take my younger siblings in the koi shop to take a peek. We ended up feeding the koi and some baby sharks. Koi are funny, they know when somebody's got some feeds and they kind of 'stampede' over the area where food's dropped (as shown in the image).

Anyway, I asked how much the cheapest koi was and it was just around php100.00. It was a tiny tiny itsy bitsy koi which could fit easily in my pocket running about 3-5inches long. Well according to the caretaker, it was all about the size and age of the koi. The bigger, fatter, and older the koi is, the more valuable it becomes.

The koi running at 200k was about 5yrs old (the oldest known Koi was named Hanako which grew as old as 226years old). Thinking about it, if you do have that natural caring hand for animals, you can buy one koi for 100, take care of it for 5 years and sell it at 200k! Wow that sounds damn foolishly easy. But I bet there are many unspoken tricks up the sleeve. It's probably not as easy at sounds, yeah?

Still, I wonder what kinda person actually buys a fish for 200k. What if it died the day after out of complications? What if on the way back you trip and land on it? What if a random stranger just stabs your koi because you had no money to be robbed off? What if your maid's stupid enough to cook it? Yay! Care to try breeding koi?
