Interactive Horror Movie Trend

A friend linked me this youtube vid that certainly hyped up the wanting to experience such interactive movie!

So people would register their cellphone numbers before the screening of the movie. In the middle of the film, the protagonist would call a random audience member and as for help.

This German movie, Last Call by 13th Street, is promoting interactivity with its audience by use of a voice recognition software which listens for the moviegoer's commands. So it's like playing an RPG movie wherein the ending would be based upon the decision-making help of the viewers.

The selected audience member would then be able to hear the voice of the protagonist and everything else via his/her phone.

I guess this is a good next step for that movie experience. People were thrilled when they found out they could feel the 3D effects and realism that surrounded them with today's latest movies. What more if they could actually take part of it and dictate how it ends, yeah? There's that sense of attachment to the protagonist that just makes it more felt.

The movie is bound to end differently depending on the instructions given by the audience so moviegoers would likely try different case scenarios if given the chance.

Interaction between Audience Member and Movie Protagonist

One thing that concerns me though is the dependency of the protagonist? I don't know but always asking "What now??" is kind of... I dunno... I don't know the word. It would surely go through a lot more process to simulate that interactive, thrilling, and realism for the horror movie that it portrays. But hey, it's a great next step for that interactive movie experience.

Oh and just to add one thing, there's this website known as Hotel626.com. It also deals with interactivity by use of mouse and all but there's this part there that makes you input your phone number and yes, your phone rings for that purpose. I don't know what happens next though but you should give it a try. It's a thriller worth trying as well :)
