Linking Your Local Debit Card with Paypal

Like most of online users, I also encountered that part in my internet life where I want to transact online. But how?

Enter Paypal. The leading e-commerce website which allows individuals and businesses to send, receive, and withdraw money online. From buying and bidding stuff online, to receiving donations or payments, whatever the cause may be, you can do it here.

It's easy to acquire an account considering making one is free. However, to enable its functions to maximize the movement and flow of your money, you need either a credit or debit card. This is a security measure which will confirm your legit status in owning cards with their respective bank accounts.

So I don't own a credit card. I don't like the thought of making purchases thinking endless money paying bills over a period of time. Rather, I have a debit card which works just like cash, only plastic. Now I managed to make a good of money online and I need to make a way to have this money into my bank account. Thus, I have to link my card.

Unlike credit cards, chances are, debit cards don't automatically come with statements of account. So this is what you need to do.

1. Add Debit/Credit Card.

Go to your Paypal Account. Click "Profile" and choose "Add/Edit Credit Card." You can also choose to click "Unverified" found just below your name and this will lead to a page that indicates your Limits and further links to link your card.

2. Enter your Card Details.

This includes your Card Number (Different from Your Bank Account Number), the Expiration Date of the card, and your 3-digit Verification Number found at the back of the card.

3. Submit.

This will charge the card with $1.95. Now you need to call your bank and ask for a confirmation code via statement of account. Explain that you need a verification code from a charge under Paypal. The charge/verification could take 2-3days to appear in your SoA.

Verification Code in Linking Your Paypal

It's quite funny though, because the bank I called does not actually know how PayPal linking works and have had trouble with clients experiencing failure in linking. I had to explain the process. So I had the bank officer take a look at my account and look for the latest charge. Good enough, the charge paypal incurred on my card was instant and I need not wait 2-3days. Acquire the verfication code - it's a 4digit code. 4digit meaning it's all numbers. So if the bank rep reads to you a code like "abcd1234e," "1234" is what you need :)

4. Verify.

Just go to the Verification page and verify by entering your code. You're done!

Congratulations! :) You have now verified your account and linked your debit (or maybe credit) card! Welcome to the broader world and chances of e-commerce!
