Yahoo Mail Free POP Access and Forwarding Feature for Mail Clients |
If you've ever tried setting up POP Access to Yahoo before, you know it's limited only to Premium/Plus Users. Now that barrier's gone!It would seem that because of competition (Thanks GMail!), Yahoo has gotten rid of that Premium feature known as POP and Forwarding. (No use for YPOPS! now) Basically, with POP (Post Office Protocol) Access, you can access your Y!Mail via mail clients like Thunderbird, Outlook, Eudora, etc. Forwarding on the other hand, is the feature of automatically forwarding messages received from one address to another. To start using this feature, you need to activate your POP Feature so: 1) Log in to your account.
2) Go to Options » Mail Options 3) Click POP & Forwarding 4) Choose Your Settings and Save Now go to ThunderBird and: 1) Create a New Account (File » New » Account » Email Account), click Next
2) Supply your Name Display and Email, click Next 3) Select POP and put "pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Server field. pop.mail.yahoo.com (You can double check your pop settings via Mail Options » POP & Forwarding in your Y!Mail. It differs sometimes especially if you use ymail, rocketmail, and ccTLD yahoo domains like yahoo.com.ph/.ca/.jp/etc.). Checking Use Global Inbox or not is your option. 4) Just Click Next, Next, then Finish and your done. You can always toggle basically the same settings for any other mail client. I just prefer Thunderbird over them all. That's it! Enjoy using your Yahoo! mail, now with free POP & Forwarding :) |
