Airlines, Airports, Twitter, and Broadband Connections on Planes |
If you can't get your hands off your smart phone, notebook, or whatever you use to access social networking sites like twitter, then good news if you travel the airways a lot.
That's great news! But in the meantime, the airline has managed to come up with a creative way of getting its name pumped up. Lufthansa has introduced MySkyStatus - a service wherein fliers can sign up for flight status feeds to be posted on your Facebook or Twitter accounts. Passengers can enter their flight and account details and MySkyStatus will be posting regular updates like departure, altitude, location, and arrival. Adding up to that, there's a new Twitter tool that will tell you who else might be in the airport you're in. Bored fliers waiting for their flight can use a French Twitter application that aims to get you connected with people within your area. What twitter users need to do is simply tweet "#boarding" tagged with an airport code and they'll receive a reply of a list of twitterers in that airport in the last few hours. Up to you now if you want to maybe meet a random friend-to-be and have a little chit-chat just before you guys fly away. On the other hand, you can always visit Boarding.fr to display a map of airports worldwide and twitterers within the area. Oh, and there's this other tool that says it could give you Flight Delay Predictions at 95% accuracy up to 6 hours in advance :) Check out FlightCaster.
